I fell in love with carafes like these when traveling through the south of France. I'd always seen them used for Pastis, Ricard, or other anisette liqueurs. Even sometimes with Absinthe. Later on, I found that they were great for chilling wines and iced teas that I didn't want to water down with melting ice.
